5. Andre bruksområder for SMC Gateway:

Examples of usage

Alarm Handler

Connecting any type of alarm system, including intruder and fire alarms, to radio systems. When an alarm, pre-alarm or fault is initiated by the premises alarm s, the SMC Gateway can send a text message, email or voice message to the radio system, allowing staff to proactively react prior to the premises alarm system sounding.

Nurse Call

Connecting Nurse Call systems to radio systems. When an alarm is initiated, the Gateway can send a text message to the radio system, SMS to phone or even an email, allowing staff to proactively react as soon as the event happens.

Remote Equipment Monitoring

Control and monitor remote equipment. By adding OPC compliant O/I extender, such as Moxa, additional equipment can be monitored. The benefit is reporting by exception, to keep radio traffic to a minimum.

Access Control (ID/GPS)

Authorisation and access control of gates, barriers or secure areas, using radio ID and GPS position.

Fleet Management

Web based live location tracking with intelligent routing, based on shortest route rather then distance.

Access Control

Control gates, barriers or secure areas. Gates and barriers can be opened by sending pre-set radio messages to the Gateway.

Teleconnect

The Gateway can act as a PBX for up to 10 VOIP phones. This is useful for mobile command and control when coupled with tracking and tele-connect.

  • Alarm/Fault
  • Panel (networked systems only)
  • Zone
  • Location
  • Value
  • Day
  • Date
  • Time
  • Event ID

Both standalone and networked Notifier systems are supported, and connection to the Gateway is via either:

C-Tec XFP Series

The C-Tec XFP Series range of fire alarms are compatible with the SMC Gateway, with full point location details being available including the breaking down of the message into it’s components:

- Alarm/Fault
- Panel (networked systems only)
- Zone
- Location
- Address
- Loop
- Date
- Time

Connection from the C-Tec XFP fire alarm to the gateway is via the RS232 connection on the top left of the rear PCB. You will require a serial lead with bare ends as the fire alarm has screw terminal connections. We recommend the use of an RS232 optical isolator to avoid ground loop faults, and the CTS connection must be pulled high to a; enabled the data output and b; to prevent the printer fault/paper out error.

The SMC Gateway requires an OPT01 or OPT04 board to provide the RS232 connection. The serial connection defaults to 9600 8N1.

Important note
In our testing we found that events sent to the Gateway were not always being stored in the fire panels history, therefore we recommend using the Gateway to store the events instead of the panels history log.

Tyco/ADT MX2/MX4

TYCO/ADT’s range of MX2, MX4 and MZX fire alarms are compatible with the SMC Gateway, with the full point location details being available including the breaking down of the message into its components:
- Alarm/Fault
- Panel (networked systems only)
-Zone
- Location
- Date
- Time
- Device type

Both standalone and networked systems are supported, and connection to the gateway is via either:
- On-board COM1 port (set to default 9600, 8N1 printer mode)
- Optional MPM800 Multipurpose I/F module, configured as above (TYCO part #557.202.012)

The connection into the alarm panel is via a TYCO/ADT supplied lead which converts the panels RJ12 connector to either a 9 pin (TYCO part #125.021.905) or 25 pin serial connector (TYCO part #125.021.930). Importantly the DTR and CTS pins must be connected to each other to put the virtual printer online – without this connection, the panel will not send any data.

For reference, the RJ12 connections (and TYCO lead colours) are:

1 – Blue – Ground
2 – Yellow – RX
3 – Green – TX
4 – Red – CTS
5 – Black – DTR
6 – White – DSR

So, to connect to the SMC Gateway, short out the Red (CTS) & Black (DTR) cores, and connect the Blue (Gnd) to Gnd, and the Green (TX) to the Serial RX on the SMC Gateway.

Locate your people and assets when GPS is not available or other technologies are unreliable.

Indoor Positioning, or Internal Tracking as its sometimes known, uses low-cost Bluetooth beacons to detect nearby devices, these devices can then be overlaid on plans and displayed.

The application allows the upload of your plans and drawings, placement of beacons and the ability to create views, which can contain multiple plans to provide a completely custom user experience.

Designed to run on the Gateway V2, the application can harness the powerful business logic already built in to raise alarms and messages based on the location of devices and their state. For example, the location of a radio could be used to automatically trigger lone work routines when entering hazardous areas, or alert others via radio, SMS or telephone of an emergency.

This neat solution works with Hytera’s work order feature to manage the allocation of work orders also known as job tickets.
  • Networked, browser application
  • Unlimited operators
  • Simple to use for operators and radio users
  • Reporting engine with export facilities
  • Ad hoc text messaging
